January 2011 may be too late. As Conservatives, we must OWN patriotism. Victory, the FairTax, and limited government (esp. DC) must be the anchor points for the midterm campaign (indeed, every campaign henceforth). As a party, we are never going to reconcile our differences on whether or not abortion should even exist. I do believe that we can and must come together over the fact that Roe v. Wade must be overturned on the sole basis that the ruling is a wholesale usurpation of legislative power from the states by the Federal judiciary. If a state votes to allow abortion, that is their right.
In reasserting our sense of Conservatism, we must cease equating the idea of fighting on equal terms with "fighting dirty". Queensberry rules are meaningless if only one boxer is wearing gloves, much less actually following the rules. This was our main problem with the 2008 campaign. Not only did the libs 'Chaos' us with McCain; the man himself refused to let anyone take the fight to the libs by hampering all efforts to capitalize on J. Wright, Rezko, or the birth certificate flap. We must also go to a one-day, one-shot, closed primary system. It is also incumbent on all Conservative candidates to get off their (butts) and make their cases from the word 'GO!' (You got me, Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, and Ron Paul?) Get on the radio, Sarah!
